Security & Data Reliability Terms

Your business runs on your data. We protect it the same way that we protect our own.

At Hammertrack, we understand that for a small contractor, "data loss" isn't just a technical glitch—it’s a threat to your reputation, your taxes, and your bottom line. We’ve built a multi-layered security system to ensure your records are always available, accurate, and under your control.

1. The "Double-Lock" Backup Strategy

We don't put all your eggs in one basket. We use two completely independent global cloud infrastructures to protect your information.

  • Primary (Real-Time): Your data is stored on Google Firebase and replicated across multiple geographic regions. If one data center goes offline, your app and data stays up.

  • The Insurance Policy (Daily): Every 24 hours, we perform a full encrypted export of all company data to Backblaze B2, an independent storage specialist. This "non-Google" backup ensures that even in a catastrophic Google outage, your records remain safe and recoverable.

2. Bank-Level Security

  • Encryption at Rest: Your data is encrypted using AES-256 (the industry standard) before it ever touches the storage disks.

  • Encryption in Transit: All data moving between your device and our servers travels through a secure, encrypted SSL tunnel.

  • Secure Financial Sync: We use Plaid to link your bank transactions. Hammertrack never sees or stores your bank login credentials; we only receive a secure, read-only data feed of transactions you’ve already made..

3. Reliability Features

  • Point-in-Time Recovery: Our system allows us to "roll back" the database to any specific minute in the last seven days—providing a safety net against accidental deletions or software bugs.

  • High Availability: By leveraging world-class infrastructure, we provide the same 99.9% uptime and reliability expected by major global corporations.

4. You Own the Data

  • No Data Lock-in: You can export your labor logs, expenses, and job costs at any time. We only want you to stay with Hammertrack if you love the tool, not because your data is "trapped."

  • Privacy First: We are a software tool, not an advertising platform. We do not sell your data, and we never share it with third parties without your explicit permission.

5. The "What If" Guarantee (Data Continuity)

Q: What happens to my data if Hammertrack vanishes and stops paying the bill? A: Your Backblaze vault is an independent account in your name. If our payment stops, the account doesn't just vanish. You have a 45-day safety window to protect your information.

Q: How much will it cost me to keep the vault active myself? A: For most small contractors, the cost is effectively zero.

  • The First 10GB are Free: The storage provider (Backblaze) does not charge for the first 10GB of data. For many micro-contractors, their entire history will fit within this free tier forever.

  • Affordable Growth: If your business grows and you exceed 10GB, the cost is only about $0.006 per gigabyte per month.

Q: How do I "take over" the account? A: If Hammertrack ever stops paying the bill, Backblaze will contact you directly via email. You can simply log in with your private keys (which you will receive from us when you sign up) and add your own payment method. You’ll become the direct owner of the account, and your data stays exactly where it is.

6. Onboarding: Your "Vault Access" Email

When you first sign up for Hammertrack, we automatically begin the process of setting up your independent vault.

  • Check Your Inbox: Shortly after joining, you will receive an automated email from Backblaze (our storage partner).

  • Setting Your Password: This email will invite you to set a password for your private backup account.

  • Peace of Mind: You do not need to do anything with this account day-to-day—Hammertrack handles all the heavy lifting—but we recommend you set your password and keep your login details in a safe place as part of your business's "Emergency Recovery Kit."

The Bottom Line

We’ve replaced the "shoebox of receipts" with a vault. We have implemented the same redundancy strategies used by enterprise-level financial software, tailored specifically for the small contractor.
